The announcement came after Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Sergio Apostol urged June '06 nurses, who wish to work in the United States, to retake the compromised exam.

"Retake the exam if you want to get to the States," Apostol told reporters at the Palace on Monday. "That is a rule in the United States. If you want to go to the States, you follow their rules, if you do not want, never mind," Apostol added.

The labor department said that the retake will be subsidized by the Government. This means that the exam fees will be waived. Review classes will also be conducted by the country's top nursing schools.
