The Department of Labor (DoLE) today warned nurses to be wary of recruiters offering nursing jobs in New Zealand.
Labor Secretary Arturo Brion said that his office received reports that individuals and recruitment agencies were collecting excessive "processing fees" ranging between Php500,000 to Php700,000 per nurse.
He added that upon deployment in New Zealand, the nurses were placed in rest homes and their monthly salaries deducted 15%.
The recruited nurses filed a complaint with the Philippine embassy in Wellington, New Zealand, which in turn, referred the case to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration for appropriate action.
