New BSN Curriculum to Include Two More Nursing Subjects

An anonymous reader sent in a report from The Philippine Star stating that the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), through CHED Order Number 5 series of 2008, has ordered the addition of two new subjects in the nursing curriculum beginning June 2008.

The new subjects, Theoretical Foundation in Nursing and Fundamentals of Nursing Practice, are said to deal mainly on the emphasis of ethics and commitment in the practice of nursing.

The report said that the introduction of two new subjects, based from the recommendations of the Technical Committee on Nursing Education, are aimed at maintaining the quality of nursing education in the country.

A comprehensive review of the changes in the new nursing curriculum is discussed in Ward Class, Pinoy R.N.'s affiliate blog specially made for student nurses.

I'm not sure if anyone reads this kind of stuff but i think the addition of commitment and ethics subjects is really absurd. Ethics is not a nursing subject. Why don't they just add the ethics teachings to Health Care I subject so they won't be adding any more nursing subjects.

Im not sure if this is true but they say that they are adding 33 units and an etra 357 hours of duty. what tha! I'm not sure if these subjects really help students pass the board exams.
Really ridiculous...

kasi naman, dapat psychological test na lang ang idagdag nila baka magadmit ng students

tsaka makita man yan sa test kung yung hangad mo ba tlga ay makatulong sa kapwa.

don't get me wrong, i'm not against those who want to get rich. but, if they sacrifice quality, commitment and wholehearted service to the patients, then i they should reconsider their goals.

let's look at ourselves and honestly rate ourselves if we are really equipped for this course.

additional years is not the solution. the solution is higpitan ang nursing course. ibagsak ang bagsak so that they can decide whether they will continue or shift. madami kasi pinilit lang. sa huli pasyente ang kawawa even the students.mganda sana ang curriculum but,, san ka mag aafiliate eh sa qmmc at eamc palang sikisikan na ang mag intern di ba? san ka kukuha ng high skilled c.i? eh nasa abroad na sila,, san ka kukuha ng pampasweldo ng prof? eh pag binago ang curicullum tataas ang tuition, at the same time kokonte ang enrolees. sana higpitan nalang ang course .. new curicullum is not necessary at this time.
