PRC - Board of Nursing Issues Memo to Nursing Schools for New Intra-Partal, Immediate Care of the Newborn, and Intra-Operative Forms

The Professional Regulation Commission - Board of Nursing (PRC - BoN) has issued a memorandum to nursing colleges for the implementation of the new Intra-Partal, Immediate Care of the Newborn, and Intra-Operative Forms which will be applicable to nursing graduates covered by CHED Memorandum Order No. 14, series of 2009.

According the memo obtained by Pinoy R.N. from the Board of Nursing website, nursing colleges must submit the following forms to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in order to secure "special orders" for graduation:

• Summary Performance Evaluation for Intra-Partal Care Competency
• Summary Performance Evaluation for Immediate Care of the Newborn Competency
• Summary Performance Evaluation for Intra-Operative Care Competency

This new requirement is in accordance with the PRC - BON Memorandum No. 1 Series of 2009 issued in April of this year. Copies of all pertinent memorandums mentioned are posted below.

Deadline in Filing for Applications in the November 2009 Nursing Board Exam Reset

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that the deadline for the filing of applications in the November 29 and 30, 2009 Nurse Licensure Examination will be re-scheduled as follows:

FIRST TIMERS: OCTOBER 16, 2009
REPEATERS: SEPTEMBER 16, 2009

Nursing board exam applications for first-time takers will be accepted and processed at designated school sites and at PRC regional offices. Repeaters are advised to file their applications directly at the PRC main office and at PRC regional offices.

To avoid delays and inconveniences in the filing of applications for the November 2009 Nurse Licensure Examination, all applicants are advised to file their application early and are likewise reminded to bring complete documentary requirements.

PRC Opens Extension Office at Ever Gotesco Manila Plaza

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has recently opened an extension office at the Ever Gotesco Manila Plaza in Recto Avenue, Manila.

The newly-opened PRC service center offers the following services:

1. Processing applications of first time applicants in various licensure examinations
2. Verification of ratings in recently released examination results
3. Registration of new successful examinees for big examinations like nurses, teachers and CPAs.

Located at the 2nd floor of Ever Gotesco U-belt, the recently-opened PRC extension office is equipped with a numbering system machine, paging system, comfortable chairs, and excellent air-conditioning system.

Meanwhile, applicants to the November 2008 Nurse Licensure Examination are reminded that the deadline for the filing and processing of applications will be on Friday, October 17, 2008.

Those who intend to take the November 2008 Nurse Licensure Examinations are reminded that the last day of filing for applications at the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) will be on October 17, 2008 (Friday).

The November 2008 Nursing Board Exam is scheduled on November 29-30, 2008 (Saturday & Sunday).

PRC-BoN Advisory to November 2008 Nurse Licensure Examination Applicants

Applicants for the Nurse Licensure Examination (NLE) are advised to follow a new scheme in the processing of their applications.

The issuance of the pre-numbered Nurses Application Forms (NAFs) is coursed through the deans of the colleges of nursing. The applicants may secure a copy from their respective colleges. This procedure will assist the applicants to have time to read and properly accomplish the NAF, prepare the requirements and minimize the long queue and congestion in the filing areas as observed during the filing period.

Likewise, the students may correctly enter their respective school codes to assist the PRC and the Board of Nursing in the accurate recording and reporting of the performance of the colleges of nursing in the Nurse Licensure Examinations.

As a control measure in the issuance of the NAF, the deans of the colleges of nursing shall submit the following to the Application Division of PRC central or regional offices:

• Letter of request signed by the Dean of the College of Nursing
• List of graduates taking the NLE
• Commitment letter stating that NO fee shall be charged to the applicant for the issuance of the NAF

Filing of the NAF and the accompanying requirements shall be undertaken personally by the applicant. The PRC Central Office and any of the Regional Offices will not accept and/or process application unless personally filed by the applicant.

The PRC Application Division is now accepting applications for the November 29-30, 2008 Nurse Licensure Examination. The deadline for the submission of application complete with all requirements is on October 17, 2008. Graduates are enjoined to start submission or application early.

For the benefit of everyone, here are the dates that prospective nursing board examinees should mark in their calendar:

• October 17, 2008 (Friday) - Deadline for filing of Applications for the November 2008 Nursing Board Exam
• November 29 - 30, 2008 (Saturday & Sunday) - Examination dates for the November 2008 Nursing Board Exam

Steps in Applying for the Nurse Licensure Examination (PRC)

The following outlines the application process for nursing licensure at the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). With the expected rise in the number of examinees this year, it is best to apply early.

STEP 1. Secure Action Sheet from the PRC Customer Service Center (CSC) and accomplish the same.

STEP 2. Submit the Action Sheet for processing and evaluation at any of the Processing Windows together with the following:

• Original and photocopies of Transcript of Records with Special Order and Date of Graduation (Graduates of government schools and institutions/programs accredited by recognized accredited agencies under the FAAP are exempted from SO [B]). Graduates of New Schools/degree Programs must submit School Recognition and/or Permit to operate.

• Original and photocopy of NSO-issued Birth Certificate (in NSO security paper; if NSO copy not very clear, bring copy from the Local Civil Registrar)

• Original and photocopies of Marriage Contract in NSO security paper (for married female only; if NSO copy not very clear, bring copy from local civil registrar).

• Four (4) passport size colored pictures in white background with complete name tag.

• Current Community Tax Certificate (Cedula)

• Notarized Related Learning Experience (RLE) Summary, O.R./D.R. Cases, and other specific documents as required by the Commission and/or Professional Regulatory Board.

NOTE: Secure the following from the processor upon approval of your application:

• Computerized Application form (CAF)
  
• Permanent Examination and Registration Record card (PERRC) (for first-timers)
  
• Notice of Admission (NOA)

STEP 3. Pay examination fee at any of the Cashier Window. Get Official Receipt.

• Baccalaureate Degree - P 600.00
  
• Non-Baccalaureate Degree - P400
  
• Removal - P300.00

NOTE: Fees may have changed. Check with the nearest PRC office for updated fee schedule.

STEP 4. Pay for metered documentary stamps and mailing envelope with metered documentary stamps at the CSC.

STEP 5. Accomplish the CAF, PERRC, and NOA. Indicate the Official Receipt number, date, and amount on the CAF.

STEP 6. Proceed to any of the Issuance Windows for final review of qualifications and documents and issuance of NOA, Applicant's Stub, Program of Examination, Examinee's Guide and Self-Instruction Sheet.

STEP 7. Keep the Notice of Admission, Official Receipt, and the Applicant's Stub. Bring these with you on the first day of the examination. For further information, read the General Instructions at the back page of the Notice of Admission, Program of Examination, Examinee's guide and Self-Instruction Sheet.

STEP 8. Bring your NOA when you verify with the PRC your school and building assignment which will be posted at the PRC premises two (2) three(3) working days before the examination date.

REMINDER: Application deadline for the June 1-2, 2008 Nurse Licensure Examination is on April 18, 2008. Late Applications will not be accepted as the PRC is expecting at least 80,000 applicants this year. Source: PRC Memo
